New CCMS Principal Selected

Michelle Bell new principal at CCMS

Mrs. Michelle Bell has been selected by the SBDM council to be the new principal at Cumberland County Middle School.  She has been the assistant principal at CCMS for the past two years.  Mrs. Bell is native to Cumberland County, the daughter of Dewey Burns and the late Evelyn Craft.  She is married to Derek Bell, and they have a two year old son, Luke William Bell.  Mrs. Bell graduated from Cumberland County High School as salutatorian in 2002.  After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree from Lindsey Wilson College in Biology, she went on to receive a Master’s degree in education and Rank I in administration from Western Kentucky University.  Mrs. Bell taught 7th grade science for the first six years of her career and has more recently served as assistant principal for the past four years in Metcalfe and Cumberland Counties.

Mrs. Bell is looking forward to her new role as principal stating, “To be named principal at Cumberland County Middle School gives me great honor and humility.  I believe together with our exceptional teachers, administrative staff, supportive parents, and community we can continue to build upon our existing educational foundation of strengthening and preparing our students to excel at whatever they may choose to pursue in life.  As a collective school community it is our duty to see that each and every student receives the best education possible to prepare them for their future endeavors.”

Mrs. Bell begins her position as principal on Friday, February 3, 2017.  She assumed the new role after former CCMS principal, Dr. Tim Parson, accepted the position of Director of Special Education, Food Service, and Preschool.
